Die BlizzCon soll erst in 2026 zurückkehren

Blizzard Entertainment überraschte seine Fans im Verlauf des heutigen Nachmittags dadurch, in dem es einen ersten Trailer zu der nächsten BlizzCon veröffentlichte. Bedauerlicherweise handelt es sich dabei allerdings nicht um eine für das Jahr 2025 geplante Messe, sondern diese Veranstaltung soll wohl erst im Jahr 2026 zurückkehren. Laut dem Trailer und der Ankündigung ist die BlizzCon 2026 für das Wochenende rund um den 12. und den 13. September 2026 geplant. Blizzard weicht bei diesem Event also auch von dem klassischen November ab.

Genauere Details zu dieser Messe hält Blizzard Entertainment aktuell noch immer gezielt zurück. Das FAQ auf der BlizzCon-Seite offenbart aber zumindest, dass auch die BlizzCon 2026 wieder im Anaheim Convention Center stattfinden wird. Blizzard distanziert sich trotz der langen Wartezeit und der Änderung am üblichen Termin also nicht komplett von der bekannten Organisation dieser Veranstaltung. Sollten die Entwickler die gleichen Pläne wie für die BlizzCon 2023 anstreben, dann sollten sie auch in 2026 wieder alle relevanten Panels des Events kostenlos ausstrahlen. Trotzdem könnte es natürlich ein virtuelles Ticket für kosmetische Inhalte geben.

Diese Ankündigung dürfte Fans dieser Messe natürlich frustrieren, weil in 2026 stolze 3 Jahre zwischen BlizzCons liegen werden. Ohne Blizzcon 2025 dürfte es in der zweiten Jahreshälfte aber zumindest noch einmal einen Livestream zu kommenden Inhalten für WoW oder Blizzard im Allgemeinen geben. Schließlich sollte Midnight den aktuellen Plänen zufolge noch vor der BlizzCon 2026 erscheinen und solch eine Erweiterung benötigt eine passende Ankündigung.
