Sogenannte GDKP-Runs<\/span> sind schon seit einiger Zeit ein fester Bestandteil der Raid-Kultur<\/span> in WoW Classic. In diesen Durchl\u00e4ufen werden die von Bossen hinterlassenen Gegenst\u00e4nde f\u00fcr Gold an die Teilnehmer versteigert und der Raid<\/span> teilt sich am Ende dann die eingenommene Menge an Gold. Auf diese Weise darf man sich selbst bei Pech \u00fcber eine gewisse Summe an Gold freuen, was besonders in zuf\u00e4llig zusammengew\u00fcrfelten Gruppen vorteilhaft ist.<\/p>\n

\u00dcberraschenderweise hat Blizzard in dieser Woche aber verk\u00fcndet, dass sie GDKP-Runs<\/span> mit der am 08. Februar 2024 kommenden zweiten Phase zumindest in der Saison der Entdeckung verbieten werden. Spieler d\u00fcrfen diese T\u00e4tigkeit dann nicht mehr l\u00e4nger anbieten und auch an keinen damit durchgef\u00fchrten Runs teilnehmen. Wer trotzdem an GDKP-Runs<\/span> teilnimmt, der verst\u00f6\u00dft gegen die Nutzungsbestimmungen und muss mit tempor\u00e4ren Sperren oder einem permanenten Bann rechnen.<\/p>\n

Laut einem Bluepost hat Blizzard sich aus einem recht guten Grund f\u00fcr diese drastische Ma\u00dfnahme entschieden. Auch wenn GDKP-Runs einige Vorteile mit sich bringen und besonders Solo-Spielern das Besuchen von Raids erlauben, so untergr\u00e4bt das Ganze aber dennoch die von Blizzard f\u00fcr WoW Classic angestrebten Strukturen rund um Gilden und das gemeinsame Raiden. Spieler wollen in WoW Classic eine etwas \u00e4ltere Spielweise erleben und das Spiel auf eine nostalgische Weise angehen, die in einem krassen Kontrast zu Dingen wie GDKP steht. Dieser Punkt wurde durch das Feedback vieler Spieler wohl deutlich vermittelt.<\/p>\n

Starting with Phase 2 of Season of Discovery, we are going to experiment with a policy change: We will no longer support or allow GDKP or \u201cgold bid\u201d raids and dungeons in Season of Discovery. We\u2019ve seen many questions about this policy change, so please read on for our answers and more information.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is GDKP and why is it being restricted in Season of Discovery?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

GDKP is a loot system some players use that essentially allows all loot to be purchased in a dungeon or raid using gold rather than being rolled for or awarded using another loot system. How this typically works is that an item drops and is then put up for gold bid among the members of the group. Players will submit their bids in gold, and the highest bidder wins. After the item is won, gold is traded to the loot master, and then that gold is usually divided among all the raid members.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s fair to say that GDKP has some benefits to individuals who don\u2019t want to be tied to a guild or set raid schedule. GDKP raids are, while mostly transactional in nature, another social activity in the game, and we\u2019re hesitant to discourage anything that gets people into groups to play together. However, we\u2019ve been concerned that GDKP erodes traditional guild and social structures that are in many cases the basis of our most fond memories of early versions of World of Warcraft. It\u2019s also undeniable that GDKP contributes to and drives a lot of illicit activity, such as real-money trading (RMT) and botting, as it creates a demand for in-game gold that would not otherwise exist. GDKP can create an \u201carms race\u201d effect that encourages participating players to purchase gold to be able to compete for the best items.<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve seen a lot of feedback and requests from players for us to try putting restrictions on this system, and since Season of Discovery is highly experimental in its nature, this seems like a good opportunity to try to support a version of WoW without GDKP. This is something we\u2019ve been discussing for quite some time, and this is not a decision we\u2019ve arrived at lightly.<\/span><\/p>\n
