Gestern Abend hat Blizzard Entertainment eine neue Werbekampagne für World of Warcraft gestartet. Diese Aktion besteht dabei dann erst einmal aus einem neuen Live-Action-Werbevideo mit dem Namen The Tavern. Dieses Video dreht sich um einen Ritter von Azeroth, der einer Priesterin von seinen schrecklichen Alpträumen berichtet. In diesen Träumen sieht er eine andere Welt ohne Magie oder Drachen, die von mächtigen Bossen in ihren gläsernen Türmen regiert wird und keinerlei Wunder beinhaltet. Damit ist natürlich unsere Welt gemeint und das Video versucht auf eine amüsante Weise zu vermitteln, dass ein Abstecher nach Azeroth die beste Alternative dazu darstellt.
Das Video erinnert sehr stark an das ebenfalls von Blizzard Entertainment zum Start von TBC Classic veröffentlichte An Ode to the Returning Heroes. Das neue Video basiert inhaltlich zwar nicht auf WotLK Classic oder einem anderen Teil des Spiels, aber es vermittelt den gleichen amüsanten Stil. Dieses neue Werbevideo richtet sich hauptsächlich an neue Spieler und es bewirbt die kostenlose Testphase von World of Warcraft. Sonderbar an der Aktion ist der Umstand, dass es neben Hilfen für Englisch sprechende Neueinsteiger das Gleiche auch noch für schwedische Fans anbietet. Nur diese eine weitere Sprache zu vermitteln ist etwas komisch und es spricht für eine Limitierung dieser Werbekampagne auf bestimmte Teile der Welt.
Ansonsten wurde das Video auch noch von einem neuen FAQ zu World of Warcraft begleitet. Diese Übersicht beinhaltet aber keine ernsten Fragen und Antworten, sondern es setzt sich aus einer Reihe von ziemlich albernen Inhalten zusammen. Dazu gehören beispielsweise die Frage nach der Form von Azeroth oder die Frage nach der Region östlich der sogenannten Östlichen Königreiche. Das Ganze ist durchaus amüsant aufgebaut und es passt gut zu dem Ton des Videos.
