The creators of Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer, have launched Upside Down Pictures, and they have several projects in development at the moment for Netflix. They’ve hired Hilary Leavitt to run the production company, and she has helped develop shows over the years such as Orphan Black, Ozark, The Great, and Shining Girls. (via)
Die unter anderem für die extrem erfolgreiche Serie Stranger Things verantworltichen Brüder Matt und Ross Duffer verkündetne gestern Abend, dass sie ihre eigene Produktionsfirma gegründet haben. Da ihr Erfolg zum Großteil auf Stranger Things basiert, trägt diese Firma den passenden Namen Upside Down Pictures. Als Leiter der Firma soll Hilary Leavitt fungieren, die in der Vergangenheit bereits Serien wie Orphan Black, Ozark, The Great, oder Shining Girls entwickelt hat.
Die Duffer-Brüdern haben ihren eigenen Aussagen zufolge recht große Ziele für ihre neue Produktionsfirma. Damit möchten sie in den nächsten Jahren möglichst viele Geschichten erzählen, die auf den Dingen basieren, die sie selbst in jungen Jahren inspiriert und bewegt haben. Diese Projekte sollen die normale Welt mit außergewöhnlichen Dingen mischen und sich sowohl durch beeindruckende Spektakel als auch tiefe Charakterentwicklung auszeichnen. Stranger Things ist wohl das beste Beispiel für die Art der geplanten Projekte.
Ansonsten arbeitet die Produktionsfirma aktuell wohl sogar bereits an mehreren Projekten. Viele dieser Produktionen enstehen zusammen mit Netflix. Bisher sind folgende Projekte bekannt:
- Eine Serienadaption des von Stephen King und Peter Straub verfassten Romans The Talisman.
- Eine neue Live-Action-Serie zu dem Manga Death Note. Die Serie hat keine Verbindung zu dem miesen Netflix-Film.
- Eine brandneue Serie von Jeffrey Addiss und Will Matthews.
- Ein Theaterstück zu der Welt von Stranger Things.
- Ein Live-Action-Spin-Off von Stranger Things, welches in der Zukunft bei Netflix erscheinen soll. Das Ganze basiert auf einer neuen Idee der Brüder.
Das Ganze klingt auf jeden Fall danach, als würden in der Zukunft einige tolle Projekte auf die Fans zukommen. Mich persönlich interessieren erst einmal das Spin-Off von Stranger Things und die neue Adaption von Death Note. Ich würde den Brüdern auf jeden Fall zutrauen, dass sie eine brauchbare Adaption von Death Note auf die Beine stellen können. Schlimmer als der Netflix-Film geht es schließlich nicht.
